By connecting to the real world of students’ lives, authentic learning enables students to become lifelong learners who contribute to society and the wider world as active and discerning citizens. Authentic learning is central to our work as Catholic educators because it promotes the continual growth and wellbeing of the whole person — spiritually, intellectually, emotionally, socially and physically.

St Vincent's Catholic Primary School Ashfield Learning ApproachStudent Voice
Student voice is an educational approach where teachers provide structures and processes that enable students to be independent, active learners who contribute to decisions regarding their learning and school life. Students at St Vincent’s are given opportunities to provide feedback on their curriculum and learning, engaging in reflective dialogue with both teachers and peers, in contemporary and flexible learning environments.

Personalised Learning
At St Vincent’s, we believe personalised learning is student-centred, catering for diverse learning needs, interests and aspirations. As a learning community, we develop differentiated learning programs that challenge and engage all students. Appropriate and timely data analysis and feedback guide teaching decisions and support students to develop learning goals. We provide flexible learning spaces to cater for a variety of learning styles and experiences, valuing cultural and diverse needs.

Creativity involves students using their imagination, taking risks, synthesising, creating original ideas, questioning and finding solutions to problems. At St Vincent’s, we foster a growth mindset and encourage all students to be active problem-solvers and apply knowledge and skills creatively in a range of situations.

At St Vincent’s we believe learning occurs through active and collaborative engagement with others. True collaboration, or creating something together, is a key feature of learning at St Vincent’s. We improve our understanding and thinking, practicing in the company of our peers. Relationships are important to everything we do. Our learning spaces also support our collaborative learning style.
